If you’re hearing the “I’m bored” cry over and over from your kids at home, don’t worry mamas—we got you. There are a bunch of virtual events you and your family can join this pre-Easter week. The whole fam can practice namaste with an online yoga class, live stream a trail walk that shows off the spring blooms and go on a virtual egg hunt. Thanks to the internet, there’s plenty to do to beat the stay-at-home same old, same old.

Here Are 7 Kid-Friendly Virtual Events This Week

Free Mindfulness Classes for Kids
April 9, 3PM
Now’s a good time for kids to learn mindfulness—a skill they’ll use for the rest of their lives. Free to Be has a free half an hour virtual mindfulness class for kids 5-10 for 30 minutes. In addition to moving and having fun, kids will learn how to focus, hone the ability to self-regulate emotion, gain a deeper sense of compassion for self and others, and work on mastering a higher level of patience.

Facebook Live Stream: Yogapalooza with Bari Koral
April 11, 10AM

Yoga with a dancing bear? A giant roller coaster of kids? Welcome to Yogapalooza. Beloved family music artist and pioneering kids’ yoga educator, Bari Koral leads this highly interactive concert that blends imaginative songs, yoga poses, dance breaks, and play—this is the most fun you can have doing virtual yoga guaranteed.

DiDonato’s Free Virtual Egg Hunt 
April 11, 11AM

Enter in this spirited contest that puts a spin on the traditional egg hunt: Download the printables from DiDonato’s, have the kiddos decorate it and then post it on DiDonato’s Facebook or Instagram pages with #DiDonatoFunCenter.  On Saturday, the Easter Bunny will be dancing, waving, and greeting kids via Facebook Live and will select one winner by random to receive a basket filled with Easter goodies, including a gift card to DiDonato’s for a future non-quarantine time.

Spring has sprung at Cedar Run and it’s time to explore from home. Join Miss Cheryl for a Saturday afternoon cyber adventure to see what plants are flowering now, which animals are active, and who’s preparing to nest.

Virtual Guided Nature Hike
April 12, 1PM – 2:30PM

Enjoy a guided walk on Facebook Live (free, but donations are encouraged) along the trails and wetlands of historic Whitesbog Village with Jess, the Education Coordinator for the Pinelands Institute. Each walk will follow a different path and there are many things to see along the way—frogs, birds, budding trees, native pitcher plants, turtles, cranberries and blueberries.

Bunny Drive
April 12, 2PM – 4PM

The Easter Bunny is going to attempt a tricky task on Easter Sunday afternoon: He will drive through Cedar Grove on a truck and wave to the houses he passes by. If you live in town, watching from your door or window and give a wave. Not in town? Follow his route on via live stream at Cedar Bean’s Coffee Joint’s Facebook page.

Easter Bollywood Dance for Kids
April 12, 5PM
Smile and dance out loud with the fun, virtual dance class on Facebook Live and by Google Hangouts, hosted by Aindrila’s Da-Fit ” Dance & Fitness ” Studio. Parents and kids will enjoy this fun exercise which involves the art of Bollywood dancing.
