Get ready to roll—Children’s Specialized Hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility in Mountainside, is once again hosting their annual Walk n’ Roll 5K to raise funds in support of children and families facing unique health challenges. The annual event —which brings together kids and adults to walk, run, roll or ride—is going to look a little different this year, but will still have the same spirit and be a whole lot of fun. Want to be in on the action? Scroll down to for details on how they’re rolling this year.

This year the Walk n’ Roll 5K is going virtual

Walk, run, ride, or roll to help Children’s Specialized Hospital reach their goal of $215,000 to support children with special health care needs.

The Virtual Walk n’ Roll 5K For Children’s Specialized Hospital is not only a way to raise funds, but for families to get together, have fun, and feel united toward one crucial goal— ensuring all children can reach their full potential. The generous contributions impact over 38,000 kids and make it possible for Children’s Specialized Hospital pediatric doctors and specialists to partner with families and create the most effective therapy and treatment program for each child. Although we can’t celebrate in person this year, Children’s Specialized Hospital is excited to bring you the 14th Annual Walk n’ Roll in a safe, new way. By going virtual, you can help support the kids at Children’s Specialized Hospital from anywhere, and with anyone around the globe.

How to take the challenge

You can take part in the Virtual 14th Annual Walk n’ Roll 5K from anywhere by registering as an individual or as a team.

Ready to give back and have fun? It’s easy— simply register today as an individual or team (which can be in person or virtual, so feel free to sign up friends and family from another state).  Then, walk, run, ride, or roll at your favorite park, at the beach, around your neighborhood, or even around your house (hello, treadmill). Each week, you’ll increase your mileage and participate in fundraising challenges to help you reach your goal. If you’re not ready or able to take part, you can still support an individual or team by making a donation or becoming a sponsor.

Be a part of the celebration

Then on September 13th at 11 AM, get ready to party—tune in to watch the live stream of the Virtual Walk n’ Roll Celebration. The lively event will feature a ton of different performers and activities for the whole family. Have your littles Jam With Jamie, an interactive, musical entertainment company that’s performed at events for Dylan’s Candy Bar, Sixteen Handles, and more. Watch a stunning performance by the NJBallet and then laugh along when Mike Marino, a Jersey City native, when he takes the stage for a family-friendly skit. Chef Casey Pesce of Apple Street Kitchen will be hosting a virtual cooking lesson, and then settle in for storytime with Fran Boccella, author of beloved children’s book, A Magical Day at the Beach. You’ll also get to catch an acoustic performance by Jimi Mitchell and lots more. So go ahead and Walk n’ Roll this month—you’ll be having fun and raising money for a good cause.
