New Jersey is home to many ambitious and talented women who juggle family, career, and home. A select few of these women are also extremely busy building their own companies to help better manage the balance of work and family. At NJMOM, we want to highlight these extraordinary women building New Jersey businesses, and learn the secret to their success.
Owner of Loveprint Photography & NJMOMpreneur:
Diana Robles
Diana Robles is the owner of Loveprint Photography, a full-service photography boutique specializing in maternity, newborn, children, and family photography. A proud military wife, Diana’s family was stationed in North Carolina when her husband was deployed. Through capturing snapshots of precious moments of her son’s childhood to share with her husband overseas, she discovered her love for family photography. Today, Diana and her family are back in New Jersey – and we are lucky to have her! Since returning home, she has turned her devotion to photography into her dream job, and her stunning, diverse portfolio speaks to her success. Diana is a woman of many passions; in addition to running a business and raising her son, she is dedicated to learning American Sign Language and is actively working to extend her photography services to deaf families.
NJMOM had the honor of speaking with Diana about her exciting professional and personal goals for the year ahead, the fuel behind her journey towards becoming a professional photographer, and her favorite things to do with her family in North Jersey.
NJMOM: What do you offer to your clients and how is it different than other professionals in your field?
Diana: Loveprint Photography, LLC is a full-service photography boutique specializing in maternity, newborn, children, and family photography. I strive to provide my clients an exceptional and memorable photography experience, from our very first conversation to the Grand Reveal and delivery of their images. I offer a stunning and diverse line of the highest quality products for our clients’ homes and keepsake. It is my goal to build one-on-one connections and relationships with my clients so that I understand their visions and desires for their session.
One thing that sets me apart from other professionals in my field is that I schedule a limited number of sessions per month to ensure that I reserve enough time to meet and speak with my clients.
I make myself available and very accessible to my clients whenever they have any questions or ideas. They also receive three separate meetings with me: Consultation, Photoshoot, and Grand Reveal. Then, I personally wrap, package, and deliver all of my client’s orders. I love giving my clients my undivided attention. I am happy to say that customer service is a very strong aspect of my business.
NJMOM: What inspired you to come up with the idea for your business?
Diana: I was inspired to become a photographer because of my son, Josiah. I’ve always loved photography, but never pursued it until I gave birth to him. My husband was in the Marine Corps at the time, and we were stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I was a stay-at-home mom and I just loved capturing the most precious moments of my little boy’s life; that’s how my passion was fueled. What started off as documenting my little boy’s life became my dream job. Now, I am so extremely honored to be documenting the most beautiful moments for so many families.
NJMOM: What is your favorite part about your business?
Diana: My favorite part about my business, besides the relationships I build with my clients, has to be the Grand Reveal session. There’s nothing I love more about what I do than presenting my client’s beautiful slideshow of their gallery and feeling all of the emotions with them. It’s always so difficult to hold back the tears, especially since I’m such an emotional person! By the end of the Grand Reveal, our cheeks are always sore from the smiles. It really is such a beautiful time.
NJMOM: What is your background in your business expertise?
Diana: I have been in business just over two years. I am primarily self-taught, however, I also had the honor and privilege of attending a hands-on workshop for Newborn Photography by Blossom Workshops earlier this year. I have also taken online workshops to further my knowledge in other areas such as studio lighting, family photography, marketing, image editing (specifically in Photoshop and Lightroom), as well as other newborn photography-related topics. I love the amount of continued education classes and workshops that are available online in this field.
NJMOM: What are you most proud of in your career?
Diana: I am most proud to see the growth in every aspect of my business over the course of two years. I started this business from scratch. All I had was an entry-level camera and the love, support, and encouragement from my incredible husband and family. The reality is that, along with passion and the courage to dream big, that’s all I needed! It really amazes me to see where I am today and I could not possibly be more excited for all that is to come.
NJMOM: What is something few people know about you?
Diana: I have a huge love for the deaf community! I’m currently learning American Sign Language (ASL) and have hopes for Loveprint Photography to become a deaf-friendly business and be able to provide photography services for deaf families.
NJMOM: What can we expect from you in 2017?
Diana: 2017 is going to be an exciting year. I will be opening my very own studio! It is still in the works, but we will be sure to make the announcement on our social media platforms. I’m also hoping to expand my little family from a family of three, to a family of four! We’ll see what happens this year.
NJMOM: What is a charity or cause you are most passionate about?
Diana: I wouldn’t call it a charity, but I am passionate about ministries in my home church, Temple Rock of My Salvation in Newark, New Jersey. I love to dedicate time to assist the church in any way that I can. I also like to donate my photography services when needed. It’s always so fulfilling to do what you love for a great cause. I’m very eager to become fluent in ASL so that we can incorporate a deaf ministry in our church. If I can be of any assistance in changing the world, even one soul at a time, I will do just that. Always!
NJMOM: Who is your role model?
Diana: My role model is my mother, Marta. She is the most beautiful and gracious woman I know. She is the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman (Bible reference). My mother has been through so much in her life, physically and emotionally, yet she graciously persevered and stands strong today. She is a phenomenal mother, encourager, and friend. She has taught me more than she’ll ever know.
NJMOM: What’s the best piece of advice your mom ever gave to you?
Diana: My mom continuously reminds me, “Keep your eyes on God. Don’t be distracted with negativity. Never stop praying, trust God and everything will work out for the best.”
NJMOM: Do you have a favorite quote you live by?
“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”
Diana: I love this quote because it conveys a powerful and encouraging message that can be applied to my personal, spiritual, and professional life. It’s so important to me because it serves as a reminder to never fear. Fear is something that can so easily keep us from obtaining our goals and distract us from our greater purpose in life. It helps me reflect on what I’m pursuing, what my passions are, and what is it, exactly, that sets my soul on fire. Be fearless in your journey of achieving your dreams, your purpose, and whatever it is that fulfills your soul.
NJMOM: What are your favorite things to do in New Jersey with your family?
Diana: During the summer, my husband, son, and I are total beach bums! We absolutely love the Jersey Shore. We enjoy our time at Long Branch beach, Point Pleasant, and Seaside Heights.
NJMOM: What is the best part about being a mom for you?
Diana: I love everything about being a mom, the good and the not-so-good. If I had to choose the best part about being a mom, it would be all of the hugs, kisses, and cuddles. My three-year-old is the sweetest boy. He really knows how to put a smile on mommy’s face, and yes, he even knows how to get me so emotional with all the sweet things he says, that I cry. He’s a smart one!
NJMOM: What are your favorite businesses in New Jersey?
Diana: Our all time favorite place for frozen yogurt is Yo-Lounge & Cafe in Nutley. They have the best frozen yogurt, crêpes, and bubble tea. My little guy, Josiah, always has a blast creating his own cup of frozen yogurt. We’ve even hosted parties there! We also really enjoy park days at Van Saun County Park in Paramus. My son loves the zoo, train ride, carousel, park, and sprinklers. There’s so much to do there!
NJMOM: Anything else you’d like to tell moms in New Jersey?
Diana: I want NJMOM’s to know that you are not alone! There are so many women and moms who face (or have faced) the same obstacles as you, who have dreams that they feel (or have felt) are out of reach, or others who simply feel alone in this “mom world.” I encourage you to be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire! Don’t be afraid to reach out and connect with other women and moms and to share your thoughts, feelings, and dreams. As a military wife, I struggled with so many obstacles; I stopped pursuing the things that set my soul on fire, and I felt very alone, but I pushed through my fears, stepped out of my comfort zone, and connected with other women. To my surprise, they all felt the same at one point or another. It’s always so uplifting to be surrounded by positive and encouraging women.
I choose to be fearless. I choose to be a woman and mom who will stand with other women and encourage them to dream big and reach higher heights.
