While NJ Mom started as a platform for moms to find verified mom-friendly local businesses and services for their growing family, it’s quickly transforming into a platform for mom-preneurs (business owners who are also moms) to introduce their business to local clientele here in New Jersey. Naturally, we get really excited when other moms are following their passion and introducing a new product to the mommy-world, and we love spotlighting these moms to learn more about them and their products.
When we came across the zCush Baby Nap Mat, we quickly fell in love with this insanely cozy mat for your baby to rest in.The zCush Baby Nap Mat conveniently rolls up to fit in any size diaper bag and transforms into a cozy mat when baby is sleepy. Yes, we’re thinking the same thing: convenience and cozy all wrapped into a nap-promoter makes one happy mama!
We had the chance to interview Saadia Esmail, the mommy-mastermind and Co-founder behind zCush Bay Nap Mats and learn more about her and her invention.
Here’s what Saadia had to say about this amazingly fluffy sleeping mat for your little one:
What’s the name of your business and your title?
zCush. I am a Co-founder.
Where did the name come from?
The ‘z’ came from the first letters of my partner’s and my kid’s names. My firstborn’s name is Zahabiya and my partner’s firstborn is Zainab. Then my son Humza also has a ‘z’. The ‘Cush’ came from ‘cushion’.
How did you come up with this idea?
The credit goes to my mother-in-law who brought over a similar product from Pakistan when my first child was born. Using that and passing it along to my partner when she had her baby motivated us to do something to introduce the concept here in the US.
What advice would you give to moms who are aspiring to become an entrepreneur?
Be patient and understand that it will not always be a smooth road.
What has become the most challenging part of being a mom-preneur?
Balancing kids’ needs with having time for the business.
What’s your favorite activity to do with your kids/ grandkids?
I love to play outside with them.
What’s the best piece of advice your mom gave you?
Money doesn’t grow on trees!
Do you have a quote or motto that you live by?
Take every minute as it goes and try to stay CALM! (Editor’s Note: we think this is GREAT advice, especially for all of the fellow new moms out there).
What’s been the most surprising part about being a mom?
I’ve always been a super confident person before having kids. What surprised me after having kids is the capability of doubting myself when it comes to raising them properly.
Do you have any “mommy must haves” that you never leave the house without?
I never leave home without Bandaids.
Thanks to Saadia for letting us learn more about her and the zCush Baby Nap Mat! You can purchase the zCush Baby Nap Mat on their website here.
