Get ready—fall races in NJ like a 5K, fun run, or walk are coming up for active family fun this season. Whether you want to join the New Jersey Devils in October to support RWJBarnabas Healthcare Heroes or keep your kids active with the Healthy Kids Running Series, you can get active outdoors and feel good about giving back this fall. 5 Walks and Races in NJ You Won’t Want to Miss

2022 Walk N’ Roll

October 9 at 10 AM
Gather the kids, lace up your kicks, and team up for the 16th Annual Children’s Specialized Hospital Foundation Walk n’ Roll. Support children facing unique health challenges and promises to be filled with fun with a new location this year at Colonial Park in Somerset. Register as a virtual walker too.
Registration Fee: There is no registration fee, but with each fundraising milestone, you are eligible to receive incentive prizes for that level

2022 Steeplechase Distance Run

September 25 at 7:30 AM in-person or virtually
Bring the whole fam out to support the Steeplechase Cancer Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset with the 14th annual Steeplechase Distance Run. This event raises money to create free supportive services for patients, including educational programs and proceeds also benefit the patient assistance fund. This is one of those races in NJ that you won’t want to miss.
Register for the event.
Registration Fee: $30 for adults before September 20. After September 20, registration is $33. Children aged 15 and under may register for $15. The entry fee for the kids’ sprints is $10. The 100 Mile Challenge entry fee is $45 and includes complimentary registration for the 10K or 5K runs or the 2-mile walk. Children age 15 and under participate in the 100 Mile Challenge for $30.

Running with the Devils 5K Run and Wellness Walk 2022

October 30 in-person 5K registration starts at 7 AM, or join October 1-30 virtually
RWJBarnabas Health and the New Jersey Devils are teaming up again this year at the Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex to honor RWJBarnabas Health’s 38,000 healthcare workers with the Running with the Devils 5K and Wellness Walk. Besides all the fun and NJ Devil players lending a hand, your family can feel good about participating—100% of the proceeds will benefit RWJBarnabas Healthcare Heros in their efforts to protect and build healthier communities. You can register here ahead of time for the in-person run, live walk, or virtual experience.
Registration Fee: Registration starts at $30 for adults, $25 for RWJBarnabas employees, and children under 11 are free

October 30, Live pre-walk kickoff at 9:30 AM
The Friendship Circle Walk benefits the Friendship Circle and LifeTown programs for children and adults with special needs. There will be a walk, 5K, and after, there will be fun, food, and entertainment. Register for the event.

Healthy Kids Running Series

Dates vary per location
The Healthy Kids Running Series is an inclusive youth running experience to inspire kids to lead an active, healthy lifestyle and believe in themselves. In 2022, Healthy Kids will take place from Paramus to Cape May Court House. Some upcoming events include East Brunswick on September 11, 18, 25, and October 2 and 9, Marlton on September 18, 25, and October 2, 9, 16, and Glen Rock on September 18 and 25 and October 2, 9, and 16. There are more locations in the Garden State to check out.
Registration Fee: $40 three weeks before the start date
